Her solo titles include New York Times rave reviewed Friends with Boys, and Eisner Award-winning, The Adventures of Super Hero Girl and The Nameless City: The Divided Earth. She drew and co-wrote the graphic novel prequel to the video game The Last of Us, which was subsequently adapted for the screen for HBO. Hicks is a longstanding writer of Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novels and has written scripts for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic series. Her books are frequently YALSA selections.
